Who we are
The Science: A Clinical Approach to Scent
As a student of Psychotherapy, I am trained to understand the profound connection between sensory experience and emotional regulation. Our interventions at Still Hour are based on established therapeutic theories and clinical practices. We focus on the fact that the olfactory system is the only sense with a direct neural pathway to the limbic system—the brain's headquarters for emotion and memory. When you light an Anchor candle or any candle from our Somatic State Collection, you are engaging in a targeted somatic intervention designed to signal safety to your brain and encourage a state of "rest and digest."
The Integrity: Research-Backed Rituals
Our products aren't just scents; they are "tethers" for the mind. Every aspect of the Somatic State Collection candles—from the grounding Sandalwood and Amber profile to our signature 185°F (85°C) pour—is chosen with clinical intent. High-heat mass produced products can degrade the therapeutic compounds within essential oils; our low-temperature method preserves them, ensuring that the tool you use for your morning reflection or evening wind-down is chemically optimized to support your mental well-being.
Meet the Founder
Still Hour was born in the quiet, demanding spaces between clinical study, personal practice, and navigating a loud and heavy world. As a Psychotherapist-in-training, I began to see a recurring gap: the profound work done within therapeutic spaces often lacked a physical 'bridge' to sustain it in the outside world.
I created these candles to be that bridge. By combining the neurobiology of scent with the precision of a 185°F (85°C) clinical pour, I’ve developed therapeutic ritual tools that do more than scent a room—they signal safety to the nervous system. My mission is to normalize somatic rituals, providing you with high-integrity, research-backed anchors to help you navigate a loud world with a regulated and resilient heart. When you light a Still Hour candle, you aren't just changing the atmosphere; you are claiming an hour for your own stillness.
